Thermal Physics Students Branch Into Optical Concepts

In the “Intro to Thermal Physics and Optics” class, being taught by Mr. Mark Craig, students have gained a foundational understanding of the underlying principles of thermodynamics, while studying practical applications, including heat engines, refrigerators, and air conditioners, as well as efficiency metrics around these systems.
Additionally, this week the class delved into introductory optics concepts, studying basic principles of mirrors, lenses, focal lengths, and image formation.  Shown here are students exploring optical concepts with basic lenses and learning how image formation results, not unlike that in the human eye.
