Two Lacrosse Players Selected to Compete in National Tournament

Selected from among student-athletes at more than 70 high schools nationwide, Molly Pitts ’18 and Melissa Ross ’17 of the St. Michael’s Women’s Varsity Lacrosse team have been chosen to compete in the US Women’s Lacrosse National Tournament. Molly and Melissa will play on the Central Texas team at the annual tournament, which will be held at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, May 28-29. Tryouts were open to lacrosse players in grades 9-11 that play for a high school or approved scholastic club team.  

The St. Michael’s Women’s Lacrosse team, which was undefeated in the regular season under Head Coach Caitlin Fegley, competes in the Texas Girls High School Lacrosse League, Central Division 1. The team will compete in the District Semifinals against St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, which is in fourth place, at Vandegrift High School on April 21. Playoffs on April 25 will determine the District winner, followed by the final tournament between the top two teams on May 7-8. (FYI, Lacrosse is not a TAPPS event.)
