Athletics at St. Michael's

OUR PROGRAM

St. Michael’s Catholic Academy is a member of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools. (TAPPS). (See tapps.net for general and specific athletic guidelines)

Philosophy
 The St. Michael’s Athletic Department's philosophy is to offer a comprehensive athletic program at a competitive level that emphasizes the development of lifelong learning, values and skills through hard work, sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and fair play.

Department Goals and Objectives
At St. Michael's, we understand that our student athletes are just that: both students and athletes, and the athletic program must always be kept in balance with academic goals. In accordance with that premise, we:
  • develop programs that encourage broad participation, create school spirit, and relay a feeling of unity among the student body, faculty, and community;
  • strive for excellence in our programs that will produce competitive teams;
  • inspire all student athletes to give their best effort in the classroom, as well as on the field/court;
  • teach our student athletes that dignity, self-worth, and self-esteem are achieved through hard work;
  • help our student athletes develop self-discipline and emotional maturity in learning to make choices under competitive pressure;
  • promote the importance of teamwork, good sportsmanship, loyalty and fair play;
  • develop an enjoyment of physical activity that will carry over to recreational involvement as a lifelong pursuit.
