Light of the World Service Learning Program (By Rae Harrison, Registrar)

Service to the community is an integral part of the mission of St. Michael’s Catholic Academy. The Light of the World Service Learning Program inspires students to follow the example of Jesus as they recognize the dignity of the human person. St. Michael’s Light of the World Service Learning Program fosters commitment to a lifetime of giving to the local and global community. Service to others is expected and required. Students involve themselves in projects such as preparing daily meals for homeless children, visiting and befriending the elderly, sponsoring events for programs geared towards the needs of the disabled, the poor and numerous other collaborations with a wide variety of organizations. The opportunities are endless!  Service at St. Michael’s is a way of life, a cornerstone of the educational experience. Please review our Service Learning webpage for information and opportunities.

“YOU are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”
Matthew 5:13-16
