SMCA’s Guidance Counseling Program is a collaborative effort between the school guidance counselor, parents and other educators to create an environment that promotes student achievement. Staff and the school guidance counselor value and respond to the diversity and individual differences in our community. The school counselor will focus skills, time and energy on direct and indirect services to students.
The school guidance counselor is available as an additional safe place on campus for students to be heard and receive support.

Students are welcome to drop in to the counselor’s office or schedule a time to visit through email. Advisors, teachers, administrators and parents are encouraged to contact the Guidance Counseling office if they are concerned about a student.

The school counselor does not provide long-term mental health therapy in schools. The counselor will contact parents with appropriate referrals, if necessary.
