Visual Arts Students Create Portraits for Haitian Children (By Kami Land, Visual Arts Instructor)

As they have in years past, St. Michael's visual arts students participated in the Memory Project, whose mission is "To help children feel valued by providing them with meaningful pieces of personal history." From photos provided by the Memory Project, our students, along with many other student artists, created portrait drawings of children.

These children have suffered from extreme poverty and then a hurricane that devastated their island and destroyed their village of Les Cayes. A small gift, lovingly created especially for them, is something our students hope will bring a little light to their lives. A  touching video of the portraits being distributed is provided here. And, thank you, students!
