Varsity Students Perform 'Steel Magnolias' October 27 (By Ivan Klousia)
Steel Magnolias: One-Act Play
In preparation for their production of scenes from Robert Harling's Steel Magnolias, Varsity Theatre students learn hair styling techniques and practice on each other in class.
Helped by her eager assistant, Annelle (Elisa Arguello '21), the wise-cracking Truvy (Isabella Garcia '19) dispenses hairstyles and free advice to the town's curmudgeon, Ouiser (Collette Phillips '20), an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee (Vanessa Garlepp '19) and the local social leader, M'Lynn (Brittany Stewart '19), whose daughter, Shelby (Rylee Russell '21) is about to get married. Filled with both hilarious and heartbreaking moments that make the play both touching and funny, SMCA's one-act production is not to be missed!
This production will serve as St. Michael's entry into the TAPPS Division I District 3, One-Act play contest to be held in the Gloria Delgado Theatre on Saturday, October 27. The show will be open to the public and the performance time will be announced shortly. Varsity Theatre students hope that the entire SMCA community comes out to support their work!
