Swim Team Makes a Major Splash in First Meet (By Kevin Steen, Associate Athletic Director)

On Wednesday, November 14, men's and women's swim teams competed in their first swim meet of the 2019-2020 season at Texas School for the Deaf. The Lady Crusaders finished second overall in the meet; the relay team won the 200 yd medley relay with a time of 2:14.68, and finished 2nd in 200 yd freestyle relay. Evelyn Fuselier won the 100 yd breaststroke, and placed 3rd in the 500 yd freestyle. Regan Sims won the 100 yd butterfly, and placed 2nd in the 100 yd backstroke. Mary Claire Fuselier got 2nd in 100 yd butterfly and 2nd in the 500 yd freestyle.Lucy Fuselier placed 2nd in the 100 yd breaststroke and 3rd in the 50 yd freestyle. Melina Ustinov placed 5th in the 100 yd backstroke and 6th in the 50 yd freestyle.

The Crusaders finished fourth overall. Luke Logan placed third in the 100 yd breaststroke and fourth in the 50 yd freestyle and Jack Dahill placed fifth in the 50 yd freestyle and sixth in the 100yd breaststroke.

It was a good showing for the teams in their first meet of the season. Crusaders will be back in action on Saturday, November 23, as they competed in the ASC Swim Meet at Austin Swim Club.
