The Virtual Nurse's Office (By Neilia Bliss, RN)

Greetings again from the virtual nurse’s office. We are now many weeks into the quarantine, and while some of you have settled into a routine, many of you may still be searching for your rhythm. What I want to address today is our role in community health and the importance of continuing to emphasize infection prevention and control (IPC) in your homes as part of your day. Regardless of your daily rhythm or routine, we need to continue to frequently practice the habits that help reduce the spread of infection; frequent handwashing, social distancing, covering coughs and sneezes, and routine disinfecting commonly used items and surfaces remain key.

The Texas Department of State Health Services has shared this flyer as a reminder that at this time “Apart We Stand Together.” Please remind your students that simple habits of IPC can have a huge impact on the health of our community.
