Online Info Sessions from Columbia University (Compiled by Shannon Hudson, Director of College Counseling & Academic Services)

Attend an online information session to learn about Columbia University’s Academic Year Immersion program! High school students in grades 9-12 can delve into academic interests through exploratory coursework and connect with the Columbia community through activities and events. Columbia University appreciates the challenges of educating students during the ongoing pandemic. In light of that, we hope our programs can provide a valuable service to your school community as students seek ways to safely expand their horizons.

Their instructors come from varied backgrounds and specialize in areas not traditionally covered in a high school setting: from Conservation Biology and Sustainability to Comedy Writing Intensive to Neuroscience and the Law. Students will not only delve into these diverse fields; but also, by networking and engaging with our leading experts, they can better understand the path required to carve out a career in these areas, giving them a head start in pursuing their future aspirations.

In addition, their Academic Year Immersion program offers more than the specific, academic course offerings listed. We also provide expansive extracurricular workshops and student life activities designed to foster a collaborative environment for students to connect with peers who share similar interests.

We are providing an updated program flier which shows our application closure date of September 30. We would appreciate your including it in any administration or Parent/Teacher Organization newsletters distributed by your school.

They have shared a fee waiver code for any interested applicants: HSIM220.
