Volleyball Sweeps Hyde Park to Claim a Share of the District Title (By Kevin Steen, Associate Athletic Director)

The Lady Crusaders hosted the Lady Panthers of Hyde Park Baptist on Wednesday, November 6, for the last game of the regular season. Before the game, we recognized the seniors of the volleyball team: Liz Bruegging, Nora Carlson, Ella Hudson, Lilianna Longoria and Annika Prevost.

The Lady Crusaders swept the Lady Panthers in 3 sets: 25-16, 25-22, 25-16 to improve their overall record to 12-2 and 7-1 in district play. With the victory, the Lady Crusaders won a share of the TAPPS 5A District 3 championship along with Brentwood Christian and Hyde Park. Due to tiebreakers, SMCA will enter the TAPPS 5A State Volleyball Playoff Bracket as the number two seed from District 3 and earned a home playoff game in the bi-district round. The Lady Crusaders will host Brownsville St. Joseph this Saturday, November 7, at 1 pm at the Carter Athletic Center.

Tickets go on sale Friday, November 6, at 4 PM. Due to our capacity requirements from TAPPS, tickets are limited to 4 per purchase. Please be mindful of others in our community who would like to support our students. Fans will receive health screenings prior to the game, masks are to be worn at all times, and groups will sit socially distanced in the bleachers.

Congratulations on a wonderful season and thank you seniors and we can't wait to cheer you on during the postseason.
