November 15 – 22 Is Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week (Compiled by Rae Harrison, Register)

Raising Awareness for our Neighbors (HHWeek.org)
  • National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is held each year in November the week before Thanksgiving. It is a time to reflect on what we are thankful for, and also a perfect time to share our compassion with our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness to work toward a world where no one has to struggle with Hunger and Homelessness.
  • National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is designed to educate the public, draw attention to the problem of poverty, and build upon the base of volunteers and supporters for local anti-poverty agencies. Various groups spend this week generating publicity about hunger and homelessness and holding events to engage volunteers in their communities.
  • National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week reminds us that, as the holidays approach, many choose to donate their time, talent, and resources to others. This is the perfect time for you to get involved in your community. The organizations below provide food and housing resources in our community by supporting individuals and families impacted by poverty. Your heart and hands are needed! Volunteer! Please contact Rae Harrison at rharrison@smca.com with any questions.
