Christmas Holiday Gatherings + Guidelines (By Neilia Bliss, RN, MA, School Nurse/Anatomy & Physiology Instructor)

As we look toward the Christmas break, please refer to these guidelines from Texas Health & Human Services and this CDC advisory for important information about celebrating and traveling during the holiday.

In addition, if you have a student that tests positive for COVID as the break starts, it is important to notify the school at health@smca.com for us to conduct proper contact tracing that may reach back to when students were on campus.  I will be on call for issues related to COVID the week of Christmas.  Please continue to communicate any positive COVID test results to health@smca.com

Thank you for taking precautions in an effort to keep our community healthy & remember the 3 W's:
  • Wear a mask
  • Wash your hands
  • Watch your distance
If you travel during the holidays, these are Austin Public Health recommendations:
  • Consider getting tested with a viral test 3–5 days after your trip and reduce non-essential activities for a full 7 days after travel, even if your test is negative. If you don’t get tested, consider reducing non-essential activities for 10 days.
  • If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.
