'Serving Austin' Winter Term Class Students Talk to the Animals (By Lauren Warner, Theology Instructor)

Students from the "Serving Austin" Winter Term class went to All Things Wild, a wildlife rescue organization that works to rehabilitate injured animals and release them back into the wild. In 2020, they provided sancutuary for 63 different species of approximately 2000 sick, injured, orphaned, and displaced wildlife from the Austin area.

While there, students helped clean the facility, prepped food for and fed the animals, and helped put up fencing in some of the cages used to contain animals while they heal.

Students were also able to interact with a skunk, squirrel, possum, rabbit, a small owl, crows, donkeys, and horses (all under the supervision of a trained animal rehabilitator.)  It was a wonderful, rewarding service opportunity.
