Inside Books Project Service Opportunity (By Rae Harrison, Registrar)

Inside Books Project is an Austin-based community service volunteer organization that sends free books and educational materials to prisoners in Texas. Inside Books is the only books-to-prisoners program in Texas, where over 140,000 people are incarcerated. Inside Books Project works to promote reading, literacy, and education among incarcerated individuals and to educate the general public on issues of incarceration.

Volunteer The volunteer opens the letters from the inmates, selects books to best fit the request, and makes packages of books to send back to each inmate. The books selected by the volunteer become the personal property of each inmate. Volunteer with Inside Books Project

Donate
Inside Books Project has sent over a quarter-million free books to inmates in Texas, funded entirely by donations from our community. Give your gently used books a second life by donating them to Inside Books Project. The student can earn 1 hour of service for every 10 books donated to the project.  Donate to Inside Books Project
