Baseball Secures Second Round of Playoffs (By Darrell May, Baseball Coach)

On Monday the SMCA Baseball team had a double header against St. Joe’s where they secured their spot to the second round of playoffs!
 
Eli Arrambide threw a gem on Monday for St. Michael's Crusaders Varsity, allowing zero runs and besting St. Joe’s by a score of 18-0
 
Carson Frezon collected four hits in five at bats to help lead St. Michael's Crusaders Varsity to victory.  Frezon singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the third, and doubled in the fourth.
 
The team got things moving in the first inning, when Arrambide doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
 
St. Michael's Crusaders Varsity put up 11 runs in the fourth inning.  William Garcia, Frezon, Arrambide, Alex DeLeon, Grant Fahrlander, and  Brady Hess all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Arrambide allowed three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out seven.
 
St. Michael's tallied 20 hits.  Frezon, Glenn Smith, DeLeon, Arrambide, Fahrlander, Hess, and Garcia all managed multiple hits.  Frezon led St. Michael's Crusaders Varsity with four hits in five at bats.  St. Michael's Crusaders Varsity didn't commit a single error in the field. Fahrlander had the most chances in the field with seven.
 
Austin Bautch was bad news for opposing pitchers during Monday’s second game, driving in four on three hits to lead St. Michael's past St. Joe’s 20-1 on Sunday.  Bautch drove in runs on a triple in the second, a single in the third, and a single in the fourth.
 
St. Michael's Crusaders Varsity secured the victory thanks to 11 runs in the fifth inning.  Offense in the inning was led by Alex DeLeon, Brady Hess, Charlie Evans, Coulter Daywood, Carson Frezon, and  Glenn Smith, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
 
Owen Moore earned the win for St. Michael's Crusaders Varsity. Moore lasted five innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out six and walking one.
 
St. Michael's Crusaders Varsity collected 17 hits. Grant Fahrlander, Bautch, DeLeon, and Hess all collected multiple hits for St. Michael's Crusaders Varsity. Fahrlander went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead St. Michael's Crusaders Varsity in hits.  Hess led St. Michael's Crusaders Varsity with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with ten stolen bases.
 
The SMCA will take on Second Baptist tomorrow night! Come out to the game and let's get to State!
