Laura Robinette Minor 2022 Recipient of Figer Distinguished Teacher Award (By Laura Duggan, Director of Marketing & Communications)

The Figer Distinguished Teacher Award was established in 2017 to honor a faculty member who clearly embodies the spirit of the award by exhibiting excellence in the classroom, modeling core values, engaging with the community, creating an innovative learning environment, and contributing significantly to student life.

Since joining St. Michael’s only last year, the 2022 award winner has already had a major impact at St. Michael's as attested to by one of her current students:

Ms. Robinette has helped me and many other students so much during this year at St. Michaels. She is always available for questions and answers email with in-depth responses that include sources and lessons that we could reference for more information, even on the weekends! She is one of the few teachers I’ve had who understands that different students learn in different ways and provides multiple different learning tools to help accommodate all sorts of different learning styles. Her genuine excitement about the topics we are learning about is truly contagious. With her as my teacher, science has quickly become one of my favorite subjects.

Having Ms. Robinette as my teacher has taught me not only a lot about science but also a lot about the type of person I would like to be. I admire and respect Ms. Robinette so incredibly much."

We are fortunate to have Laura Robinette Minor on our faculty, along with the many other gifted and committed instructors who deliver a top-notch education every day and in every way.
