Back-to-Back Henderson Cup Awards! Congratulations to All!

For the second consecutive year, St. Michael’s Catholic Academy has won the Henderson Cup, an overall school championship awarded by the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) to each school in its division (1A-5A). The 2016 award for St. Michael’s follows the school’s win of the Henderson Cup in 2015.

“Consecutive Academic Championships combined with consecutive Henderson Cup wins are unheard of. Our students, especially, but also our families, faculty, coaches, and staff deserve all the credit for making St. Michael’s the tremendous success it is today. The Henderson Cup win is just one example of the great things going on at the school,” said Donald Figer, Chair of the Board of Trustees.

The Henderson Cup is earned by the school which amassed the most points in 27 TAPPS championships in a school year. Schools earn these points from competitions in Academics, Athletics, and Fine Arts, including Solo and Duet Acting, Literary Criticism, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Persuasive Speaking, and Prose Interpretation.
The current year at St. Michael’s was highlighted by our 2016 TAPPS 4A State Academic Championship (also won in 2015) and our three State Championships in Athletics: Cross Country, Track & Field, and Tennis (also won in 2015).
