Women's Cross Country Wins at Southlake Carroll!

The defending TAPPS 5A Champion St. Michael's Cross Country team traveled to Dallas for the nation's premier meet, the Southlake Carroll Invitational, on Saturday, September 9. It was a banner day for the Lady Crusaders as they took the 5A and under team title well clear of second place University Interscholastic League 5A foe Hallsville 40 to 72. The Lady Crusaders dominated the race with all 5 scoring runners in the top 20.

Three girls placed in the top 10: junior Kinga Parrish, second place; junior Lyla Senn, fourth place; and junior Mary Hodapp, sixth place. Senior Claire Glenn and junior Danielle Escutia rounded out St. Michael's top five finishing 12th and 20th.

"This is a huge win for the team and catapults them into the State spotlight as a premier cross country program powerhouse," head coach Augie Alcala said.

Alcala credited their win to the team's "unparalleled work ethic, competitiveness, and desire to be the greatest they can be."

The team will be back in action Saturday, September 16, at Cedar Park High School for the Cedar Park Invitational.
St. Michael’s Athletic Director Angelique Cunningham, a 1998 NCAA champion and five-time All-American, said, “I could not be more proud of our Cross Country teams, and I look forward to their continued success.”
