Basketball Teams Notch Two More District Wins

On January 26, the St. Michael's Women's and Men's Basketball team traveled down the road to play district rival Regents.

In the first varsity game of the night, the Lady Crusaders jumped out to a 31-17 start in the first half and then continued to coast a 73-29 win against the Lady Knights. Senior Captain Anna Batchik led the Lady Crusaders with 21 points while fellow Senior Captain Gabi Pulsifer contributed with 16 points. 

In the second varsity game of the night, the Crusaders and the Knights were in a tight contest game all game, with the Crusaders trailing 24-23 against the Knights at half. After the first quarter, key three points and free throws in the fourth quarter sealed the 49-46 victory for the Crusaders. Senior Matt Everett led the Crusaders with 14 points while junior guard Augie Watkins contributed with 12 points. 

On January 30, The St. Michael's Women's and Men's Basketball team hosted Hyde Park on Future Crusader Night. The Lady Crusaders jumped out to a 30-12 lead against the Lady Panthers at half. Lady Panthers made a comeback in the second half, but the Lady Crusaders held on to a 49-41 victory. Batchik led the team with 28 points and Alexis Threadgill had 9 points. The Lady Crusaders are currently in first place in district.
In the second varsity game of the night, the Crusaders jumped out to a 34-22 lead over the Panthers at half. The Crusaders continue their lead in the second half and defeated the Panthers 58-43 to earn their third district victory of the season. Senior Matt Everett led the Crusaders with 19 points while junior guard Augie Watkins contributed with 16 points. 

The St. Michael's Basketball team traveled to St. Dominic Savio on Friday, February 2. Women's game starts at 6:30 with the men's game to follow.  Please come out and support the Basketball teams.
