Varsity Tennis Team Hosts First Home Match of Season

With the rainy weather giving way, the Crusader Tennis Team played its first home match against Veritas Academy on Friday, March 9. Isa Martinez started the Crusaders off with a win in a tight singles match. Grace May and Olivia Lovelady both played challenging singles matches, just being edged out by their opponents. The women's doubles teams were able to sweep Veritas!  Riley Todd and Allison Vilas, Rachel Thweatt and Sofia Rangel-Medina, and Olivia Lovelady and Isa Martinez all took home definitive wins for the Crusaders.
The men's team was equally successful. Super Champ, Jack Nichols, won hands down in his first singles match for the Crusaders. Jack and his brother Nick Nichols handily defeated a very tough doubles team to pull out their first doubles victory for the Crusaders. Anthony Ortegon had an amazing match against a higher ranked opponent. He never gave up and pushed his opponent to the limit. Doak Henderson and Cameron French came out swinging and won their match in record time. Ryan Polk joined Nick Nichols for an exhibition doubles match. It was great to see them in action. The match highlight was seeing first-time tennis player Landon Watkins joined by Cameron French to win his first doubles match for the Crusaders! Way to go Crusader Tennis!!

The Crusaders will play Savio on March 23 at Cimarron Hills Country Club.
