Track and Field Season Update (By Coach Angelique Cunningham)

The 2018 track and field season is well under way for the St. Michael's Crusaders.  The women's team is led in the long sprints by Juniors Sidney Kaliher and Kinga Parrish. Kaliher has the #13 200m dash time in the state at 27.84 and Parrish has the #8 400m time in the state at 61.8 seconds.  Parrish, Mary Hodapp, JT Thompson and Danielle Escutia currently have the #3 time in the State in the 4 x 400m relay as well.  The Lady Crusaders flexed their muscle in the distance races as defending State champion Parrish tops the state rankings in the 800m dash at 2:21 with Mary Hodapp following in 4th. Hodapp and Parrish are currently ranked #1 and #2 in TAPPS 5A in the 1600m run as well. 
The Crusader men's team roars into April fresh off the Pflugerville Panther Relays where they defeated UIL 5A and 6A foes Leander Rouse, Pflugerville Connally, Del Valle and Round Rock Cedar Ridge. Joe Lawler has the TAPPS 5A's #3 800m time at 2:04.8 and Jackson Long holds the State's #2 3200m time and #3 1600m time.  The Crusader relay teams are positioned for great things as championship season approaches. Sebastian Cascarano, Lex Boucvalt, Justin Mikell and Jake Esparza currently hold the State's #2 spot in the 4 x 200m relay at 1:32.8 and the #3 spot in the 4 x 400m relay at 3:33.8.  The Crusaders are showing depth in the field events as well with Nathan Vondrak sitting at #7 in the rankings in the shot put at 42'10" and Julian Stoicoviciu holding the state's #6 discus throw at 130'4".  The Crusaders are in action at Houston Christian on April 7th and then return home to SMCA for the District Championships at the Seeker Track on April 18th and 19th.
