Computer Lab Benefits from Major Update (By Mr. David Meagher, Social Sciences and Technology Instructor)

The St. Michael's computer lab was one of the beneficiaries of the recent campus-wide update. In all, 20 new computers were placed in the renovated lab. The new hardware is top of the line, and made possible by generous donations by supporters at last year's Gala fundraiser.

The new machines really allow technology-based classes to utilize the full potential of the software in use here at St. Michaels. Graphic Design and 3D Architecture classes have all benefited from faster loading, increased performance and general stability that comes from new hardware.
Also, our AP programming and yearbook classes use professional grade Adobe products extensively, and these require workstations. On top of the new Dell XPS machines, lab monitors have been replaced. The new monitors are brighter, with a higher resolution and a faster refresh rate. This means less eye-strain, and a more comfortable environment for students undertaking lab-based classes.

For those of you who are interested in the specs:

Our thanks go out to the generous donors that made the lab upgrade possible.
