Reminders:

Semester 2 Drop/Add
Drop/Add for Semester 2 will be from January 15th - February 2nd. Please complete a drop/add form in the College Center if you need to make any changes for the spring semester.

Junior Family Appointments
The college counselors will be sending out a calendar for junior family appointments by February 1st. Junior parents and students - please complete the Google Surveys you received and submit them before your scheduled appointment. Here are the links again for convenience.

Crusader Day
Crusader Day will be Friday, March 2nd. Juniors are required to visit one college on this date, so please begin making travel arrangements! Freshmen students will be attending a field trip with the college counselors to visit one college on this date.

YouScience
Sophomores and juniors should have received YouScience usernames and passwords in their SMCA email. Your Youscience profile is due by the end of Winter Term. Let your counselor know if you have not received your Youscience information via email.

Spotlight: Summer Program

It's never too early to start thinking about summer opportunities! Encourage your student to step outside their comfort zone this summer, and engage in a summer program or internship.

Bank of America Student Leaders Summer Program
As a Student Leader, you will participate in an eight-week paid internship at a local nonprofit organization where you will learn first-hand about the needs of your community and the critical role nonprofits play. In addition, you will learn valuable civic, social and business leadership skills. Each Student Leader will attend the Student Leaders Summit held in Washington, D.C., where you will learn how government, business, and the nonprofit sector work together to address critical community needs.

To become a Student Leader, you must:
  • Currently be a junior or senior in high school
  • Be able to participate in an 8-week paid internship at a local nonprofit organization and work 35 hours a week
  • Be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship through the end of September 2018
  • Be able to participate in a week-long Student Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C. (July 8th - July 13th, 2018) (All expenses paid. This week is part of your 8-week experience).
  • Be a student in good standing at your school
  • Obtain a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, or school administrator
