Women's Soccer Clinches District Championship

On Friday, February 2, it was Senior Night for the Lady Crusaders Soccer Team against district opponent St. Dominic Savio. Before the game, St. Michael's Community honored our five seniors, Danielle Escutia, Caroline Keyes, Hannah Morgan, Elizabeth Rogers and Kristen Walton.
The Lady Crusaders won 5-1. For the first half, in the first minute Hannah Morgan headed the ball across the box to Jessica Mikell, who found the back of the net. In the eighth minute the second goal came from Caroline Keyes kicking a corner kick to Hannah Morgan. Then, in the twentieth minute, Jessica Mikell crossed to Hannah Morgan, who found the back of the net. Finally, in the twenty-fifth minute Jessica Mikell crossed to Danielle Escutia, putting the score at 4-0 at half. In the fifteenth minute of the second half Danielle Escutia scored a penalty kick. Then, In the thirty-first minute, Savio scored, leaving the final score of the game 5-1.
 
 
On Tuesday, Febriuary 6, Lady Crusaders had their last game of the regular season against district Hyde Park. The Lady Crusaders lost 2-1 against the Lady Panthers. The Lady Crusaders finished the district season with a record of 5-1 and ranked #4 in the State. 

With Friday night's victory and despite Tuesday night's loss, the Lady Crusaders captured the TAPPS 5A District 4 Championship. With the District championship, the Lady Crusaders also earned a first round bye in the TAPPS 5A Soccer Playoffs and will host the second round game on Tuesday, February 13, at the Crusader Stadium against Fort Worth All Saints Episcopal. Kick-off is at 4:00 pm.
