Need-to-Know College Counseling News March 1, 2018

Important Dates:
  • March 2: Crusader Day
    • 9h grade: Bus Trip to Texas A&M-  Must arrive on campus by 7:45am.  Details were emailed on Tuesday and today!  
    • 10th grade: Leadership Retreat
    • 11th grade: College Visit with Families (Make a tour and information session appointment as soon as possible.  They are filling up!)
    • 12th grade: Kairos, Sophomore Retreat, Baseball, TAPPS Theater or Service Hours.  All seniors who are still working on service hours or the reflective paper, must work on one or the other over the 3-day weekend.  You do NOT need to come to school on Friday, but documentation of service hours or paper must be provided on Monday to the College Center.
Career Series: 
All grade levels are encouraged to attend to learn more about career and major options after high school.  It is offered during lunch in the Upper Commons.  Free Pizza!

  • April 12: Dr. Martinez- Ophthalmologist 
Course Registration:
Wevdiscussed course options for the 2018-2019 school year in Advisory on February 28.  Honors and AP recommendations were also discussed. Course registration will be online from March 5-9.

Junior Family Appointments:
We need more junior families to schedule appointments!  We would like all appointments to be finished by the end of March! Please complete the Google Surveys you received and submit them before your scheduled appointment. Here are the links again for convenience.

It's never too early to start thinking about summer opportunities! Encourage your student to step outside their comfort zone this summer, and engage in a summer program or internship.

Shadow Opportunities
 
We encourage all students to reach out to friends and family to seek a summer shadow opportunity in a career that is of interest to you.  It's the perfect time to explore career options!
